The quality of water that is consumed by humans and animals is of concern worldwide. Chlorine as the pathogen control is a dangerous option but it is the only choice we are offered. It is excellent at eliminating germs but makes the water unfit for human consumption. Chlorine reacts with solids and dissolved solids in water creating carcinogens and, when we drink water containing chlorine, it causes damage to our cells and bodies. We should be improving physical removal and filtration techniques then we can use a safer disinfectant to overcome the presence of germs.
